214 open-source projects, every one verified live against the GitHub API. What we take, what we copy, and what we only read — to build a creator studio that runs on the creator's own machine with no expiring credits.
The shape of the field: the pipeline is barbell-shaped. The middle — voice, assembly, subtitles, publishing — is extraordinarily well served, with several production-grade options each. Both ends — what to make and getting paid — are close to empty, because they need proprietary data or a two-sided market. That asymmetry is the product opportunity.
SUMERA sells "scripts built for your niche" across 54 content categories. Classify each one by how it actually gets made, and the shape of the real product falls out: 44 of 54 — 81% — require the creator to shoot and edit footage. Only 10 are faceless. The script is the first hour; the footage is the other eight.
Films themselves plus the thing — product, food, workshop, street. Needs take selection and B-roll over a talking head.

≈ post applies the verified benchmark from working editors — roughly one hour of post per finished minute — to each niche's own advertised target length. Two professionals with 10+ and 20+ years state it independently in the same r/NewTubers thread; self-tracked creator reports cluster at 1.0–2.7 hr/min. One video in each of these 54 niches is 828 finished minutes ≈ 828 hours ≈ 104 working days of editing.
Open source has thoroughly solved collection and rendering, and has built almost nothing for judgement. Every gap below is a decision layer sitting on data that is already freely available — small in code, large in value. These are the parts that cannot be lifted, and therefore the parts worth owning.
Which exact words lost viewers.
Pull the audienceWatchRatio curve from the Analytics API, pull word-timestamped transcript from whisperX, join on the time axis, find negative-slope segments. Output: 'you lost 8% of viewers across these 40 words.'
Zero repos do this. The single most valuable diagnostic a creator can have — it says WHY a video underperformed, not that it did. A few hundred lines of joining work sitting on freely available data.
Rank the good reads among N attempts.
Segment rushes into takes, transcribe each, rank by delivery quality and completeness, surface as navigable selects with transcript evidence — never an opaque auto-cut.
Nothing above single digits exists. Targets the strongest complaint found: 'I spend an inordinate amount of time tidying up a sentence only to find another, perfect take of the exact same line immediately after.' r/editors pushes back hard on replacing the review pass — so augment it.
Which licence covers which asset in which video.
Per-video manifest: asset to source to licence to proof-of-purchase to permitted uses to expiry, with claim-dispute state. Survives a strike or a takedown because there is a receipt.
A complete void. Searching 'music license tracking' returns zero results; the entire copyright topic on GitHub is software SBOM tooling. Nothing tracks which track or stock clip sits in which video under which licence. A single unlicensed track can demonetise a video permanently — this converts an unbounded existential risk into a tracked liability.
Thumbnail and title tests that survive the platform.
Sequential swap-testing: rotate the thumbnail every N hours, pull impressions and CTR, correct for time-of-day and video-age confounds, stop on a Bayesian rule.
Every OSS experiment platform assumes YOU control the impression. On YouTube you never do — YouTube serves the thumbnail and reports aggregates. The stats are borrowable; the confound correction is the novel work.
What the creator can actually charge.
Pull live analytics, audience demographics and past sponsor performance into a media kit and rate card that refreshes itself.
Does not exist in open source. Every search for 'media kit' returned name collisions, sub-3-star student projects or Web3 schemes. This changes a revenue line, not a time saving — it changes what a creator can charge.
A scorer trained on your own channel.
Deterministic linter (length, emoji, numerals, front-loaded keyword) plus a scorer trained on your channel's own title-to-CTR pairs.
No OSS YouTube title scorer or curiosity-gap analyser exists. Ad-tech CTR models predict clicks on ad impressions with rich user features — a creator has none of that. The channel-specific model is the asset precisely because it cannot be commoditised.
The Frame.io loop for a creator with an editor.
Comments anchored to a timecode, version stacks, approve/reject per cut, notification back to the editor.
No OSS equivalent to Frame.io's core. Lumio is photo proofing — the nearest thing found. Anyone who works with an editor needs this and nobody has built it.
The money side, entirely unbuilt.
Brand outreach pipeline, rate card, deal tracking, contract templates, sponsor invoicing, UTM attribution for sponsor reporting, auto-generated media kit from live channel stats.
No sponsorship CRM and no media-kit generator exist in open source. The only creator-sponsorship project found was a 102-star student prototype. Directly revenue-linked and the biggest gap in the whole sweep.
What do I actually earn, and from where.
Connectors pulling AdSense, TikTok, Patreon, Stripe, sponsors and affiliates into one ledger with tax categorisation.
The ledger and the receipt-parsing exist and are excellent; the platform connectors do not. This is the difference between running a channel and running a business — it reframes which content to make, which sponsor to accept, whether to hire.

The entire OSS field is one 3-star repo. LiveKit gives the transport; the record-locally-upload-progressively client is a build. Interview format is the longest niche on SUMERA's own list.

Score each video against the channel's median at equal age; z-score on view velocity. Same for competitors.
Collection is completely solved and quota-free. Nothing scores a video against its own channel baseline. Trivial maths, absent implementation — this is what VidIQ charges $199/yr for.
Align A-cam, B-cam and the audio recorder.
Audio cross-correlation alignment surviving distorted reference audio and sample-rate drift.
Category effectively empty — the largest repo found has 6 stars. Well-understood algorithm, no credible library. Interview format is the longest niche on SUMERA's own list at 30-60 minutes.
Infrastructure a multi-channel app cannot skip.
Cost accounting against the 10,000-unit daily budget, prioritised queueing, cache-aware batching, graceful degradation to quota-free paths.
No OSS library does this. Mandatory for any app serving more than one channel; yt-dlp and youtube-transcript-api remove much of the pressure but not the need.
Which licence covers which clip in which video.
Per-asset licence provenance through the edit, so a claim or a takedown resolves to a receipt.
DAMs store assets; none track usage rights per clip. The nearest transferable model is SBOM licence provenance from software supply chains.

Gaze redirection on a talking-head frame.
Research code only, mostly stale, one leading repo with no licence at all. Descript and NVIDIA Broadcast own this outright. Do not attempt.
